Fantastic First-Generation 1988 BMW M5 Sedan

This is one of the nicest E28 M5’s we have ever seen. We have always loved this model, and this one has been well preserved with tasteful upgrades. It is available here on eBay.

The 17″ BBS RC’s and Dinan lowered suspension make for the perfect stance. We are not usually fans of window tinting, but it works on this car. We’ve always loved the way the black taillight trim looks as compared to the chrome units on the standard E28’s. We like that this car is modified but retains the tasteful factory exhaust outlets. The 2KNZ California plates are a tip that the car has lived in California since 1988.

These M5’s were only available in the black/tan color combo you see here. This one has a very clean interior that looks entirely stock except for the short shifter. We loved BMW interiors in the 1980’s, even with the pesky dash computers with all the red LED’s.

Our favorite M5’s have in-line sixes like this one. These can be a maintenance headache and are complicated to rebuild, but if maintained well and not abused they will last quite a long time. This one has upgraded cam gears, chip, and exhaust.

$22.5k is well over average for the model, but we think it is very reasonable for an original California car in this condition. It may even hold its value as clean early M-cars become harder and harder to source.
